Is it really free?
Completely. No monthly fee, no per-game charge. Just sign up, get grouped, and play.
Any rating. New players start at 1200 Elo and are grouped with others at the same level. Total beginners are very welcome.
You play two games against each person in your group (once as White, once as Black). With 5 players that's 8 games a month.
Life happens — just let the league admin know. Players who complete at least one game are still ranked; those with zero results may be moved to inactive for the next round.
The Berlin league is an in-person league. If you prefer online play, join the global online league at Chess Global League instead.
